Frequently Asked Questions

Do I want an AK in 5.45x39 or 7.62x39?

If you only have one AK it should be chambered in 7.62x39. The 7.62 cartridge is much more available in the US and has superior ballistic capabilities than the 5.45x39 cartridge.

Do I want a milled or stamped receiver?

We prefer stamped receivers; they are much lighter and about 1/3 the cost of a milled receiver. The AK was originally designed to be a stamped receiver. The only reason there were ever milled receivers was because the Russians didn’t have there metal stamping technology needed to produce AK’s in the numbers needed. Since adopting the AKM over the AK47 the receivers have been stamped.

Do I want a Single Hook or Double Hook Trigger?

We use mainly single hook triggers, Most AK’s were built with single hook trigger and we don’t see the need for a double hook. There is more work involved in the install of the double hook and there is really no benefit in doing it.

What are my stock options?

AK100/SLR106 stocks

These are considered to be the best folding stock available. You get the fell of a fixed stock with the benefit of a folder; they lock up nice and tight and are extremely durable. They fold to the left so not to interfere with the controls. These stocks are generally installed when the gun is built; they can be added to an existing gun but will require extra work to retro fit.

Bulgarian Side Folder

These are the same folding mechanism as the AK 100 but use a metal triangle stock instead of the AK100 stock

Ace Type Folders

These stocks are designed to replace a fixed stock, They come in 2 types, External block that attaches to the gun with no modification to the gun. The internal block requires cutting off the rear tang, so you will not be able to change it back to a fixed stock. These stocks can be set up to fold to the left or right. We believe that the Internal block is the best way to install these, There are many different stock types that can also be used with the Ace type internal block and hinge.

Romanian Side Folder

These stocks are the most economical of the folders available; they fit any fixed stock gun and are easily changed by 2 screws. Some people find them to be hard on the cheek during recoil, wrapping them with Paracord seem to eliminate this issue.

There are other folding stocks out there but the 3 listed are proven to be effective and very durable.

What about scope mounts?

OpticThe standard Russian scope rail mounted to the side or the receiver is the traditional method of mounting scopes, they are solid (when installed right) and all eastern block mounts will fit them.

The only other mounts we currently recommend are the Ultimak scout rails and the Krebs Custom Berly rails Ultimak makes a scout rail that replaces the gas tube, these are excellent for mounting an Aimpoint, or whatever scout type optic you choose. These are the lowest mounts available and with the right scope you will be able to co-witness your iron sights.

Krebs Custom makes a Beryl type rail that goes over the top cover and attaches to the rear trunion. This rail is the best of it’s kind available and we strongly recommend it.

Both rails will allow a return to zero when the scope is removed and re-attached.

Can you do work on NFA weapons, Machineguns, Short Barreled Rifles?

We are an 07FFL/SOT and can repair or modify your transferable Machineguns, build post dealer samples and SBR’s.

What is an 07FFL/SOT?

The designation “07FFL” mean a federally licensed manufacturer of firearms.
“SOT” stands for “special occupation tax” which allows us to manufacture and repair machineguns, SBR’s/SBS’s and suppressors.

What is an SBR/SBS?

SBRSBR stands for short-barreled rifle, these are NFA registered firearms that are fired from a shoulder stock and have a barrel of less than 16”

SBS stands for short-barreled shotgun, again these are NFA registered firearms that fire from a shoulder stock and have a barrel of less than 18”

Either of these weapon types are NFA controlled and have restrictions on ownership but can be owned by private citizens.

What are NFA weapons?

NFA stands for National Firearms Act, which requires the registration of any machinegun, short-barreled rifle, short-barreled shotgun, suppressor or Destructive device.

What is 922R Compliance?

Due to Import restrictions, any new build, Siaga conversion or Mak90 conversion must have a certain number of US parts to be legally built or converted. There are several choices in the parts you can use depending on the job. To build or convert a gun without following these rules you will be in violation of federal law. All guns built or converted by Rifle Dynamics must and will be 922R compliant.

Can you build and repair weapons in "ban states"

We offer services to California, New York and other states with restrictive gun laws. We work within the framework of the states regulations to get you the best weapon you can legally own where you live.

Shipping Firearms to Rifle Dynamics

When you ship your firearm(s) to us please pack them carefully and securely, UPS, Fed EX and USPS are very rough on packages and we have had a few guns damaged in shipping. Always request "adult signature required" and always insure it. Do not go to a UPS store, they are a separate entity from UPS, they are anti-gun and most likely won't ship it.

Please include a copy of your drivers license and all contact info.

We do not post or address as we are not open to the general public.

Please contact Karen at 702-860-7774 for our shipping address.
